Fabric Sale!!!!

DID THAT GET YOUR ATTENTION?

A retired teacher recently died (I didn't know her) and left an EXTENSIVE stash of fabric and other craft supplies. Her son, Steve, is doing his best to liquidate her stash. As I understand it, he has already purchased 2 cars for his kids with proceeds thus far! Yes, she had a STASH!!!

  • The single fabrics are now $2.50 a yard (down from $3.50 a yard).
  • The bundles are $2 a FQ. Thus a kit of 12 is $24.
The Bernina 1130 is $950 and has free shipping. It was recently serviced and has extra feet
He also sent a link to photos of the fabric. Click here, or use this link:
If you'd like to help him and see something you like...email him at ltifoto@gmail.com. Make him an offer - he may be willing to negotiate...just saying...

Yesterday's hike was more than an hour and took us by THREE different lakes. Woohoo!

Need a bit of help here. Hubby bought three of these plants at Walmart soon after we moved into our cottage. They are doing so well at the end of our driveway. ALL our neighbors want to know what they are. Unfortunately Hubby can't remember. Do you know?
Tomorrow I'm sharing my new marking tools for marking quilts for quilting! Stay tuned!

Fall Hexies

I added these striped hexies to the mix yesterday. This fabric really says Fall to me! Speaking of which, we've really enjoyed the cooler weather lately. I know we have more hot days to come, but this is a nice respite.

I have some exciting news! I have ALL the hexies made to complete BLISS!!! Yay!!!

Today I'll be sewing individual hexies together in anticipation of attaching them to the 'mother ship.' I'm thrilled with my quilt - it's looking very colorful and fun!

Yesterday (in addition to a 2 mile walk in the morning) we rode our bikes in the afternoon. Our neighborhood is great for this - mostly flat and little traffic on the side roads. Yes, we wore helmets. What fun!

Have a fun day!

Digging Out an Old Project...

Last night I wanted something mindless to hand sew while we watched TV. Remember this? 'I'm A Farmer's Daughter' pattern by Jen Kingwell. I found the pattern, my homemade templates, and one block in progress. If I'm remembering correctly I had already made two blocks, but alas...I think they are buried in storage. That's okay. I have the important part. It's seems a lifetime ago since I last worked on this.

Yesterday I got my pile of basted hexie pieces stitched together and I laid them out in their design. Today I'll be cutting more fabric for more hexie - moving forward!

A note about Bliss:
I promised to provide the rest of the pattern by the end of the year. And I will! I've decided to make the quilt a bit smaller than originally planned, but I'm almost finished! So the next instructions I provide will be the final section! Yay!

I also did a bit of feather quilting on my 'Summer on the Beach' quilt - it's coming along very nicely. I love a day where I work on a few different projects - makes me feel so productive!

Have a great day!

Hexies Galore!

This happened yesterday! All my hexie pieces were sewn together.

Today I'll be laying these out and then I'll stitch them together into flowers and other patterns.

Last night's sunset...

Yes, another walk. I believe we walked almost 4 miles yesterday. I'm thinking I need some new walking shoes in the near future. As soon as I finish my morning tea we'll head out again.

And then I'll sew! Hope you get some sewing done today!

Football Day!

It was a beautiful day for a football game yesterday! The weather has cooled a bit in the last few days. We were only hot for the first quarter; then the sun moved a bit and we were in the shade for the rest of the game.

That photo of the white Auburn logo floating the air - that's apparently a new addition to pregame this year. There is a machine on the sideline that makes these logo shaped bubble creations that float up and away. Each is made of thousands of little soap bubbles. Really cool!

Hubby and I were in our happy place!

And the band was in fine form. We so enjoyed our day on campus!

I finished basting my hexie pieces on Friday before we left the lake. Friday afternoon was spent doing laundry and buying groceries. So today I'm ready to machine stitch my hexie pieces together. And maybe I'll do a bit of feather quilting, too.

Friday afternoon various neighbors stopped by to offer condolences and bring food - we love our neighbors!

You know, when Hubby came home after being gone for so long, I had already increased my walking. He has jumped on the bandwagon. We try to walk a bit more each day. I tell him when I'm 'halfway tired' and we turn around and go back. This morning when I told him, he said I should pretend I'm only 3/8's of the way tired. Okay, I was game. We ended up walking (with Cooper) for almost 3 miles. We'll take a shorter walk this evening. I love that we push each other.

Now it's time to make some bread. While it's rising I can sew!

Have a great day!

Work Day

Poor SeaDoo - stuck on its lift for the winter. Today is a work day, mostly for hubby. He'll mow, weed eat, put the cover on SeaDoo, fix a light fixture, and a few more things. I'll be cleaning inside (and basting hexies).

We grilled out last night - burgers for dinner and smoked sausage for tonight. Looked away for a minute and Cooper scarfed down half the sausages! That dog! Luckily there are enough left for tonight's dinner.

The weather is a bit cooler today! The high will only be 83 - a big improvement! I'm leashing up the dogs for a walk before I do anything else.

Go forth and hexie!

Hexies Prepared!

Done! I have a gallon size ziplock bag full of smaller baggies with sets of hexie piece ready to baste at the lake. I've added my glue sticks and scissors (to snip the curves). Eventually I'll keep my featherweight at the lake house for machine sewing there, but I'm not taking it today.

We forged a new trail this morning. Cooper adores walking on trails! So many wonderful smells! We are increasing our walks - this morning's walk was more than 2 miles. Our afternoon walk will be at the lake.

Today's trek took us to the golf course. Lovely morning!

I found a bit of time for quilting feathers. Don't you hate it when this happens? You realize something doesn't feel right. You look on the backside. UGH!!! I've learned to never walk away from a mistake. Rip it out immediately! Rethread machine (yup, that was the problem), and quilt again!

Have a great day!!!
