Hurricane Irma Prep

I haven't done much sewing the last couple of days, but I did finish this block (Bring Me Flowers). I also started machine quilting Ain't No Sunshine (En Provence). I've only done a small part and it's not my greatest machine quilting, but it will be done in a week or so.

We've been prepping for Irma - she's headed directly toward us. If you look at the maps they are showing, we live in Alabama very near the Georgia border - right in the path of the hurricane. We'll be under a Tropical Storm Warning all day tomorrow - expecting winds 30-50 mph with gusts up to 70 mph.

We've brought all our outdoor furniture inside or tied down on the carport. All outdoor cushions are now inside. Our bicycles are on the screened porch, along with a fire pit, outdoor heater, and anything else that would fit. Our hanging baskets are down, too. We even filled our cars with outdoor stuff.

We're a bit worried about all the scraps of wood across the street at a construction site - let's hope they don't become airborne.

We have plenty of water and food and a full tank of gas. We are as prepared as we can be.

Lots of Florida residents came here to escape their homes - all hotels here are full and many gas stations have run out of gas.

For now we will hunker down and wait it out.

  1. Don't forget cash. That's one thing my cousin appreciated during Harvey. Praying for all of you,

  2. Be safe!!! All you can do is wait it out. My sister lives in Apollo Beach (south of Tampa) and they just lost power. Our Florida friends are hunkered down as well. Again, take care!!!

  3. I hope you are safe from the wood across the street. You'd think they would have wanted to safeguard their materials. It sounds as if you've done what you can to prepare. Lots of people in Florida with Knoxville relatives have come up here to wait out the storm. I kept looking at my phone weather for Miami and Jax all day, and the winds never seemed to show up, so I'm going to the NW site to check on it.

  5. It was also a demand of the union that the government should recognise their performance the same way it punishes teachers, he added. “We thank SED Secretary, School Education Minister and Chief Minister for the initiative.”
