Neutral Hexies

I adore this lovely quilt.  It's on the Tutorial page of Tallgrass Prairie Studio .  I do love these grays.  Soft and soothing.  Ahhh.....

Another Hexie Elephant?

Look at this little gem!  It appears someone made it from an old Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt.  I love that the flower is centered on it's side!  This was spotted for sale at a new arts/crafts shop in Tuscaloosa, AL, called The Makers Market.  Artists of all genres can sell their works there - I would love to go visit!

Hexie Floor

I have a severe case of Floor Envy.  Kara Paslay put this in her loft.  I love everything about it, especially the color combination.  Sigh.....

Check out Kara Paslay Designs for the tutorial.

Becky Goldsmith's Hexies

Are these not the cutest hexie flowers you've ever seen?  Becky Goldsmith is one half of the infamous Piece O'Cake designers.  She plans to use these as flower centers.

I love her use of modern, graphic fabrics.  And the fussy cutting!  Beautiful!

Thanks Becky, for letting me share your work....

My Father's Shirts

Sorry for the long break.  My father died on September 2 and my life was a bit upside down for a couple of weeks.  I brought home all his shirts to make quilts for my mother, my brother, and myself.

I've been playing around with the shirts a bit, trying different patterns and techniques.  The fabric is very thin and flimsy.  Even with heavy starching, they are hard to work with.  Then the light bulb went off!  HEXIES!  Of course!

One big hexie centered on a square of fabric.  Nice and graphic.  Simple (important since I'm making three of these quilts).  And our hexie technique works so well with any fabric!  So glad I have my decision on how to use the fabric.  Let the cutting and sewing begin!

By the way Peggy and I should hear ANY DAY NOW about the publishing date for our hexie book!  You'll be the first to hear and to see the cover!  Stay tuned!
