Antique Hexies!
Yesterday at my small sewing group, someone brought these to show me. Yes, I already seem to be known as the Hexie Queen here in Auburn though I've lived here less than 6 months!
Look at those TINY stitches! I had to show the back so you can see how neatly they are put together.
These units were made by my new friend's husbands great grandmother - how special is that! She is carefully appliquéing the hexie flowers onto background squares before turning the blocks into quilts. What a great way to preserve them!

A Lotta Milkshake!
When Victoria Findlay Wolfe needed a quick baby quilt, she turned to hexies and made A Lotta Milkshake. I love her style and the way she combines fabrics. What a talented lady! I consider V one of my blogging buddies, though we did meet once in person at Houston a few years ago.
Her new book is out featuring her "made fabric" techniques. Love all her quilts!

Baseball Hexies!
Yesterday was opening day of the baseball season here at Auburn and we have season tickets. I love baseball - the seats are comfy, the pace is slower than football, and yes, I can take along my hexies. I stuck my supplies in my purse and made great progress.
Last fall I hexied at a PGA golf tournament. Now I can mark a baseball game off my list. Where have you hexied? (Or done any hand sewing in unusual places?)

Scrappy Hexie Goodness!
Gotta love some scrappy hexies! Yesterday afternoon two of my friends came over and we had a bit of show and tell time. Chris brought along her hexie project, much to my delight!
Here's what she has together so far. This is her take-along project - she keeps in a nice little box, always ready to grab and go.
We spent the afternoon with lots of quilty talk and there may have been some Accuquilt cutting going on to get Jan ready to make a masterpiece hexie quilt - can't wait to see her's progress!
