Birdie Coming Out to Play...

This little birdie is coming out to play today. Since this has turned into a hand stitching week (due to my back), this might make a nice change of pace today.

Yesterday I made more progress on my RFLQ flower pots. (I may have to stitch a bit today on those, also.) As I was struggling to press tiny stems that are only 1/8" wide, I decided I needed to buy a 1/8" bias tape maker. No biggie, right? I have bigger bias tape makers - they are usually around $6 - totally worth it! So I went on Amazon to search.

I found one! But the price? *&^#%)!???

$179!!!!!!!

What??? You've got to be kidding me! I think I'll continue making do! I can think of much more important things to do with that amount of money...

As for my back...it continues to improve! I was very diligent yesterday spending time with the heating pad and then ice. Back and forth. I'm  hoping that by the weekend I'll be able to machine sew again. I'm itching to finish En Provence and to work on machine quilting Autumn Garden. Until then I have plenty of hand stitching at the ready.

I stayed up a bit late last night watching the live Rodan and Fields new product launch with a friend - so exciting! I'll tell you more soon, but it's amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on it! I know I have some readers in Australia - we're getting ready to launch there - what an opportunity for Aussies! This is a fabulous way to make some bucks by simply washing your face (and watching yourself look younger). Contact me if interested! Of course it's also a great opportunity to make money here in the US and Canada also. Especially since we were just named the NUMBER 1 skincare line in the US!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

  1. I didn't have the 1/8th bias maker either. On some of my stems I took the quarter inch bias that I made and folded it in half. I decided that was too much sugar for a dime, as they say. I went back to using the quarter inch bias as is. I try not to let it bother me (much). I justify it by the fact that some girls are thick too but that doesn't mean they aren't beautiful!

  2. Here's a website with a 1/8th bias tape measure for $9: http://www.scarlettrose.com/eighth_inch_bias_tape_maker.html
Believe she is in California. Her last post on facebook was April 9th.
Amazon isn't the best place to look for things - charletans appear regularly there.

  3. Oops didn't see it was out of stock. Alas. She did sell a set of bias bars that included the 1/8th bar, but that's out of stock too. :(

  4. I have one from the Simplicity bias tape machine. I don't have the machine; but use the tip as I use my Clover ones. Maybe you can find someone around you that have one.

  5. Looked at three different distributors sites and not one of them had an 1/8" bias tape maker. Seems 1/4" is the smallest that's now available. Given the one showing up on Amazon is a Simplicity brand though, you might find one at JoAnn's or WalMart. Hate to send you to either of those places, but the 1/8" maker may not be made any longer. So, once their stock runs out that's the end of that.
