Another Day!

Thanks for all the sweet well wishes for my FIL! He was surrounded by love and prayer yesterday! He made it through the tough surgery, which ended up being more invasive than planned. As of last night, he was alert, even chatty. He'll be in ICU for a couple of days. I'll probably go visit when he's in a regular room. Hubby is by his side non-stop.

Meanwhile, I'm holding down the fort here, and working and working to keep myself busy. Above is the VERY LAST melon slice for the Double Wedding Ring wedding quilt. I could have finished the quilt top yesterday, but decided to work on other things.

You may remember, I have two featherweights. I've been wanting to pull them both out and decide which one to keep. I was hoping to turn them on and simply keep the one that sews the best (selling the other).

HA! That didn't happen. They both do come on. The motors work. But neither sews beautifully at all. I know they both need some lubrication and cleaning, so I think that will be my next step. But maybe you can all help me out a bit in deciding which one I should keep.

This one actually says 221 below the badge. The serial number is AL569112.

And here the badge of the other one. It's serial number is AG990924.

What's a girl to do? I'm sure either one can be made to run well. I've looked up the serial numbers and the second one is older, though it looks newer - the paint and decal look better on this one. Any help would be appreciated.

I also spent a few hours learning my new software. I'm happy to report I'm making good progress! I'm a happy camper today!

  1. So glad for the good news on you FIL. Will continue to pray. Don't know a thing about featherweights, so no help from here.

  2. Ok the AL 569112 was born on October, 14th, 1953 and there were 50,000 made during that run. The AG990924 was born on February 19th, 1947 and there were 20,000 made. The latter of the two for me would be more desirable sure to it being more vintage and less made ib that run. As far as the sewing, I can service them. And probably get them both sewing/stitching great if you are I interested give me a call. I have two 221 s ands the 301s. It's all I sew on. Love them all. And work on them myself. I have serviced machines fire a few others. I would keep them both ;)hope this helps

  4. Don't know anything about Featherweights myself, other than I'd love to have one, but Jo R. in Scottsboro, AL does. She can give you good advice as well as do repairs. If you don't already know her and would like her contact info just let me know.
