Vintage Hexie Quilt

Isn't this a BEAUTY!!! The design is not typical of most hexagon quilts of this vintage - stars and flowers both! It's a scrap lover's dream, with every color in the rainbow, plus some black. And it is all beautifully hand quilting around every single hexie. That's a LOAD of hand work!

Here are some close up shots:

Magnificent, isn't it? And no damage anywhere.

I've made a recent decision to start a hexagon quilt collection - I want several older quilts to show along with my modern quilts when I speak to groups. And this is my first acquisition! I adore it! It was a real find - I don't have the budget to spend much on old quilts but this one was very reasonably priced.

I'm in total LOVE with it!

  2. I can understand why. I'm totally in love with it too!! Love the black star. It is so rare although I did see one that was black and white houndstooth hexies on white background. It was stunning too but yours is spectacular! Do you know how old?

  7. Love this quilt! So different. It looks like vintage feed sack which i also adore and just acquired a Ton of from a lovely lady in our birthday group. They were my "tip"for quilting a top for her and I was shocked and amazed and in love with them. ..... all of them. I hate to cut them up but I want to use them. I might have to do this quilt in then. It is truly stunning. Great Find!
